This replaces the Travel Warning issued August 10, 2010, to update information on the general security environment and to warn against participation in any attempt to reach Gaza by sea.

A Growing Need to Purchase Travel Insurance

The Association of British Insurers (ABI) recently reported that the number of travelers falling ill when traveling abroad has hit a record high. The research looked at British travelers but the need for comprehensive international travel insurance applies to all nationalities. International travel insurance is essential when looking at the rising numbers of injuries and illnesses abroad.

The ABI said medical expense claims have risen by 270 percent in six years. Claims for medical treatment and doctors’ visits cost travel insurance companies around £275m ($435m) each year.
