Major medical insurance quotes are rising across the nation and according to the article “Health Care Premiums Are Already Soaring In Advance of Obamacare” by Bradley Blakeman on foxnews.com, it’s mostly because of the onset of healthcare reform just around the corner.
Just this past month millions of Blue Cross Blue Shield members received notification that their health insurance premiums were going to increase effective immediately. The main reason given was that the overall rise in healthcare is causing costs to be passed on to customers. Many think that health care providers are rising consumer costs in preparation for Obama’s new health care reform passed earlier this year and set to go into effect fully in 2014.
The Consumers Union report shows that Blue Cross Blue Shield groups are increasing health insurance premiums by up to double digits to build up and maintain their cash reserves. In some cases they want to increase reserves to three times the state requirements. This shows hoe concerned health insurers really are about the outcome of the new health care reform bill.
